The motor narrow boat "Arundell", which has been assisting with the aggregate contract from Denham to West Drayton on the Grand Union Canal, has recently been joined by the butty "Betelgeuse". These two boats, although of traditional design are capable of carrying 60 tonnes each trip and are considerably faster than the existing barges. In the first full week of operations at the end of April the pair moved some 300 tonnes of aggregates and it is hoped that loadings will increase.
